Hirachand Chordia Eye Hospital was inaugurated by the then Governor of Tamilnadu, His Excellency Sri Mohanlal Sukhadia on March 20, 1977. The hospital provides affordable and quality ophthalmic care, irrespective of patient’s background. It aims to serve people who are financially disadvantaged.
175-200 out-patients a day, mostly from low and middle income groups visit the hospital. Nearly 200 surgeries a month at subisidised cost and around 200-250 of all surgeries a year are done free of cost.
The hospital is managed by Siremull Hirachand Charitable Trust.
